Nature & Stewardship

We work outside. We try to leave it better than we found it.

Estate cleanouts, remodels, and trade work put crews on the same land that the birds and bees and the rest of us call home. We take that seriously — not as a tagline, but as a quiet practice. The animals we encounter are handled with care. The products we reach for default to the gentler option. The materials that leave a job go where they belong.

Our philosophy

A core value, not a marketing tactic.

Estate work, cleanouts, and trade projects touch the natural world whether or not we notice. A raccoon in the attic of a house we are clearing out. A yard we have to drive a truck across. A solvent we pour down a drain at the end of a long day. None of these are grand gestures. They are small choices, repeated, that add up to how a company actually treats the place it works.

9 Revolution is conscious of the impact our work has on the natural world, and we give back to nature freely. We try to maintain balance — with the wildlife we share the property with, with the soil and water around the job site, and with the people who will live on the land after we leave. It is not a program we run. It is how we expect to do the work.

Wildlife handling

The animals come first. Then the job.

Every property we work on is somebody's home, and almost every home in the 518 shares space with wildlife at some point in the year. Here is how we handle it.

Humane trapping, safe removal
When an estate, cleanout, or job site has animals living in or around it — raccoons in the attic, a nest in the shed, bats in the eaves — we trap and relocate them ourselves. Live traps only. Baited to species. Set where the animal came in, not where it is convenient to catch it.
A no-harm policy
We do not poison, exterminate, or destroy wildlife on a project. If a property has an active infestation that needs faster action than a live trap allows, we pause, call a licensed wildlife control operator, and let them handle it. Our crew stays on the human work.
Hand-off to rehab partners
Injured or displaced animals go directly to licensed wildlife rehabilitators — never to a shelter, never to a roadside. We transport when transport is part of the ask, and we cover the cost of care when an animal is hurt because of our work.

Local rehab partners

Wildlife rehabilitation resources, 518 area.

When a job surfaces an injured or displaced animal, we hand it off to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. The directory below is being built from direct outreach to the organizations that actually take calls in our territory — listed once intake hours, species, and contact details are confirmed.

Directory in progress
518-area partners will be listed here as research is completed. In the meantime, call us and we will route an animal to the right rehabilitator ourselves — no client should have to make that call mid-project.

Eco-friendly products

The gentler option is the default. Not the upgrade.

At every opportunity we choose eco-friendly chemicals, solvents, and materials — not because clients always ask for them, but because the conventional version is rarely worth the cost it passes on to the next person on the property.

Cleaning agents
Plant-derived surfactants and enzyme cleaners for empty-house turnovers and estate cleanouts. We carry the conventional options for jobs that genuinely need them — grease, smoke, biological remediation — but the default is a green-certified product.
Solvents
Citrus- and soy-based solvents for paint prep, adhesive removal, and degreasing. We avoid mineral spirits and MEK on interior jobs. Anything that has to leave the building as hazardous waste gets documented and dropped at a licensed facility.
Materials
Low-VOC paints, water-based finishes, FSC-certified lumber when the spec allows. On remodel jobs we surface the eco option alongside the conventional one and let the client choose with the trade-offs in plain language.
Disposal
Source-separated recycling on every job. Estate items routed to donation partners before they go to the landfill. E-waste, mercury, and fluorescent lamps handed off to licensed recyclers — not the household trash.

Give back

Restoring the ground we work on.

Stewardship is the part of the job that does not show up on an invoice. We responsibly dispose of what a project generates, recycle the estate items a family no longer needs, avoid unnecessary chemical use, and support the local ecosystems that the 518 is built on. The short version: we treat the land like we will be back to work on it next year.

  • Donate resaleable estate furniture, housewares, and clothing to local thrift partners before considering disposal.
  • Recycle metals, cardboard, and clean wood separately — the landfill is the last stop, not the first.
  • Use water-based finishes and low-VOC paints as the default on interior work.
  • Leave the surrounding landscape better than we found it: trim invasive growth, haul away construction debris, and replant where a job disturbed a yard.
